Ryhope CW 2-1 Guisborough Town F.C: Ryhope CW steal hard-fought away win

Ryhope CW made it a league double with an away win at Guisborough Town F.C in the EBAC Northern League.

Jack Devlin opened the scoring before Lee Bythway equalised to head into the break level.

Jon Weirs scored his first Ryhope goal to give Ryhope the three points.

The match kicked off with Ryhope going against a well organised home side, Guisborough took control of the match early on.

Jon Weirs picked up the ball in midfield before releasing Jack Devlin who took advantage rounding the keeper and putting it away in the 11th minute.

After the goal the home side took control of the first half having scored the equaliser after a mistake by goalkeeper Joe Atkinson was taken advantage of by Lee Bythway in the 29th.

Guisborough went closest in the rest of the first-half but despite good chances for Steven Roberts and Brian Close the sides headed into the break level.

Joe Atkinson had to be alert to Brad Mill’s strike from distance early in the second half.

Jon Weirs had a good chance after making a good run into the box but fires narrowly wide.

Jon Weirs then got the winner in 80th minute. He started the move with a good ball to his brother Matty who saw his strike saved but Jon was on hand to poke home the rebound.

The win leaves Ryhope in 11th ahead of a tough away fixture against Dunston.
